About Mr. Bertig

Mr. Bertig graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 2007 with a degree in Citizenship Education.  He has been employed at Indiana Area Senior High School since 2007.  He went on to complete his Master's Degree from Duquesne in Educational Administration in 2010.  He currently teaches America and the World III: 1900-Present, as well as American Government and Current Affairs.  He also teaches World Religions every four years as part of a rotating elective cycle.
 
Mr. Bertig has been the school's quiz bowl advisor since 2008, with the quiz bowl team competing locally in the Indiana County Academic League (ICAL), as well as regionally and nationally through National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT).  He was elected president of ICAL in 2011, and is responsible for coordinating the quiz bowl program for eight school districts in Indiana and Armstrong Counties.  
 
Mr. Bertig has been the school's Student Government advisor since 2008.  In that capacity, he coordinates Homecoming, Prom, and charity fundraising activities for the Teddy Bear Fund Drive.  He also serves as the coordinator for the school's clubs program.
 
Finally, Mr. Bertig is involved in the community, serving on the Homer-Center School Board since 2013.  He is also a member of the ARIN IU 28 Board, the Homer-Center Parks and Recreation Board, and the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Council, which serves the Homer City area.
