School Safety Update

March 29, 2022

Dear Families,

On Tuesday afternoon, the Senior High administration was made aware of a school threat written on a bathroom wall that included racially insensitive comments.  The administration reviewed the surveillance video and conducted a thorough investigation that included several interviews with students regarding the matter. Regardless of the ambiguity of the threat, the administration contacted the Pennsylvania State Police to err on the side of caution to assist us in the investigation. Since they are conducting an investigation, there is no further information we can release at this time as the State Police will issue their report later this evening.

I am extremely grateful for the leadership and support displayed by the State Police in efforts to keep our students, staff, and schools safe.  IASD’s Safety Director responded quickly to work with the administration on the matter as well.  Again, no evidence was found that this threat was credible.

I apologize for the brevity of this email, but I thought it was best to make you aware of the threat and our response.  Sorry for the intrusion.  Please contact the Senior High Administration and/or our Safety Director, Mike Travis, if you have any questions.  As always, all of our buildings will be alert and aware.

Respectfully,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich

Superintendent of Schools
