IASD is excited to receive Highmark Grant

The Indiana Area School District is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a
$7,500 “Always Growing, Always Prepared” grant through the Highmark Foundation
School Grants and Awards program.

This grant will provide our school nurses with the opportunity to identify emerging
student health trends and new evidence-based practices that will be used to promote
student health, social and academic success and healthy communities. It will also
promote the role of the school nurse as a health leader in the school setting and
integrate leadership concepts through professional growth, development and
responsibilities to optimize the role of the certified school nurses at Indiana Area School
District.

The selection process was a difficult one. The Highmark Foundation received more than
190 applications totaling more than $1.2 million in requested funds. The Indiana Area
School District would like to thank the Highmark Foundation for being such a great
catalyst for community and family health and for supporting school districts to bridge
the gap between healthcare and academic achievement.  Special thanks to Tracy Pecora
for writing the successful grant application.
