Indiana Junior High School technical education program awarded again

The Indiana Junior High School technical education program was recognized by the Technology & Engineering Education Association of Pennsylvania (TEEAP) for the second time in five years.

The Indiana Junior High School technical education program was once again chosen for the state’s Program Excellence Award through TEEAP. Additionally, one of the program teachers, Mr. Michael Dolges, was chosen to receive the TEEAP Teacher Excellence award for the state.

TEEAP is recognizing the incredible work that has been achieved within IJHS Technical Education, including the IJHS Combat Bots program, which has had a large-scale impact on students and the community. Teachers Mr. Dolges and Mr. Scott Herrington established the competition in the Junior High School, and the Combat Bots program has expanded to the Indiana Senior High School this year through the work of students and teachers.

The annual TEEAP conference will be held on October 23 and 24 at Millersville University, where Mr. Dolges and the IJHS technical education program will be honored. These awards recognize IJHS’s middle school program of excellence across the Commonwealth and Mr. Dolges’ outstanding contributions to the development of high quality instruction.

Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Robert Heinrich stated: “The work that Mr. Dolges and Mr. Herrington do is a shining example of the high-quality education our teachers provide here at IASD. Their program truly engages students in deep critical thinking, real-world problem solving, communication, collaboration, and the application of math and science classrooms - all in a fun and exciting way. Students love this program, and so do we!”

Congratulations to Mr. Dolges, Mr. Herrington, and their students!
