$3,500 worth of funds from the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) are paying for 50 Indiana Area School District students to take dual enrollment classes through the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The dual enrollment program - available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors at the Senior High - allows students to take courses in-person or online at IUP to earn college credit while still attending high school. The higher-level classes provide a challenge at a discounted rate from that of a full-time college student. IASD has built strong relationships with higher education institutions to allow students to have the opportunity to earn credits such as these.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) administers the EITC program. EITC allows businesses in the area to allocate portions of their tax dollars to local school districts. This allows them to support the endeavours of districts to bring a variety of academic and enrichment programs to their students.
IASD would like to thank our EITC donors, S&T Bank and First Commonwealth Bank, for their generous contributions that fuel these opportunities for our students.
