COVID-19 Update - Jr. and Sr. High Cases

November 24, 2020

Dear Families:

The District was notified today of five additional positive COVID-19 cases, two cases at the Senior High School and three cases at the Junior High.  The Department of Health (DOH) worked with the School Nurse and Administration on both matters and contacted the individuals who needed to be quarantined as a result of the positive cases due to exposure.

The positive cases at the high school include a student who has not been in school since November 13. It is our understanding that two additional students will be quarantined as a result of that positive case. There are 7 active cases at the high school.  The most recent case involves a student who was NOT at the senior high school during the contagious period; thus, no additional students/staff will be quarantined as a result.

The positive cases at the Junior High involve two students and a staff member.  It is our understanding that the DOH has quarantined 4 additional students.

As you know, this week has been incredibly trying and the most recent cases bring our totals to 17 since Tuesday (November 17). On behalf of the entire District, please know we are doing all we can. As the holiday season approaches, your diligent efforts in modeling appropriate safety behaviors and speaking with your child about the need to wear masks, social distance, and washing their hands frequently are needed more than ever. Also, quarantining is used to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Quarantine means stay at home and monitor your health. If you have been asked to quarantine, please adhere to it. We thank you all for what you have done already and thank you for the work that is to come.  We truly appreciate you all.

Respectfully,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich

IASD Superintendent
