For Students Currently in Grades 9 through 12

Description:
Credit recovery courses are available to students in grades nine through twelve and provide students the opportunity to recoup academic credit for courses students failed to successfully complete during the regular academic year.

Courses Available:

Senior high-level credit recovery courses available for initial registration include Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12, America and the World II (9), America and the World III (10), American Government and Current Affairs (11), Economics (12), Psychology (12), Sociology (12), Computer Applications, Health and Physical Education 9, Health and Physical Education 10, Health and Physical Education 11, Career and Work Readiness.

Course Dates:

All credit recovery courses will begin on Monday, June 17, 2024, and conclude on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Please note that ALL credit recovery coursework must be completed by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Registration and Payment Dates:

Registration for credit recovery courses should, ideally, be completed by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, June 13, 2024.  All decisions as to whether or not individual credit recovery courses will actually “run” will be based on registration numbers as of noon on Thursday, June 13, 2024.  The more students who register for an individual course by Thursday, June 13, 2024, the more likely that course will be offered.

Please note that school district administrators reserve the right to cancel an individual credit recovery course if fewer than five students enroll in the course.  Decisions regarding course cancellation will be made the afternoon of Thursday, June 13, 2024, and students -- as well as their parents/guardians -- will be notified (via e-mail message) of course cancellation before 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, June 12, 2024.  Should a course be canceled, fee payments will be refunded in a timely manner.

Late registrations WILL be accepted through 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, June 20, 2024 -- but late registrations will be accepted only for June courses that are actually “running.”

Fees:

There will be no fees for students enrolling in the 2024 Credit Recovery courses.  Please note that fees could be reinstated in future years.

Attendance Requirement:

While there is no mandatory requirement for in-person attendance for Summer school classes, the IDEAL lab will be available for interested students during selected hours each week with more information to come once the program is up and running.

Please note that students will need to spend several hours each week working at home or in the IDEAL Lab.  Most courses require students to work anywhere from eight to fourteen hours per week.

Course Withdrawal:

If a student chooses to “drop” his/her credit recovery course(s) by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, the course will be removed from their record.

If a student “drops” his/her credit recovery course(s) after the aforementioned deadline, the student will receive his/her “relative” grade for the credit recovery course, and that grade will be (A) used to calculate the student’s grade point average (GPA) and (B) recorded on the student’s transcript.  These grades cannot be removed from a student’s transcript -- even if a student retakes a course and successfully completes it.

Course Grades:

Indiana Area School District grade guidelines will be used for all Summer School 2024 credit recovery courses

For Senior High credit recovery courses, the student will be awarded an “overall” grade (0, 1, 2, 3, 4) for each credit recovery course, and that grade will be recorded in the student’s school record.  The student’s course grade will be used to calculate the student’s grade point average (GPA).
