Retirees that were honored

The Indiana Area School District (IASD), in collaboration with the Indiana Area Education Association and AFSCME Local 2772, hosted a celebration on May 27 to honor its 19 retirees for the 2025-2026 school year. This group of educators and staff members represents a collective legacy of more than 421 years of dedicated service to the students and families of the IASD community.

Retirees in attendance (pictured): Dawn Balogh, Sheri Fetterman, Pamela Conner, Lorie Fiechuk, Jacqueline Gentile, Kathleen Gibbons, Brad Trout, Janice Brocious, Jason Rougeaux, Jeannie Fedor, Janet Clawson, and Eric Brocious.

Retirees unable to attend: Carol Kerchensky, Amanda McAnulty, Amy McDowell, Brenda Pearce, Corine Schrecengost, Randy Sell, and Laura Visco.

The event also served as a heartfelt reunion, as numerous former retirees returned to welcome their colleagues into the next chapter of their lives. One notable group of former Indiana Area Junior High School staff members, who ate lunch together for many years and retired between 2011 and 2026, gathered to celebrate their newest retiree and shared 187-year history. This group included: Mary Bender (Music), Dana Piccolini (Family & Consumer Sciences), Valerie Haney (BCIT), Janice Brocious (BCIT), Jenna Celtnieks (Physical Education), Lorrie Gallo (ELA), and Caryn Penrose (Family & Consumer Sciences)

While we celebrate our current and past retirees, the Indiana Area School District also invites the community to permanently recognize excellence by nominating distinguished faculty to the Indiana Area Education Foundation Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors alumni and faculty whose character, service, and professional achievements reflect the leadership and values fostered within our district. Thank you retirees for your service to our district and students!
