  • Indiana Area Senior High School Driver Education Classes

    For Whom?

    The course is open to Indiana Area Senior High School students who are 16 years of age or older and who possess a valid PA learner’s Permit or a PA Junior Driver’s License by the time driving instruction begins for the class.  Be sure to schedule and complete this class prior to graduation.

    When?

    The Driver Education schedule for 2017-2018 is available here.Once maximum enrollment is reached for the session, students would then have to choose another session to attend.  Remember, attendance is mandatory, so please check the dates of when your session meets and plan your schedule accordingly.  During the school year, classes meet from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (MWF) in the LGI at the high school.  Summer session classes meet from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (MTWRF).  Driving is scheduled in order of the student registration for the class.  Early registration is highly recommended.  Please remember the class and session in which you are enrolled.  Advance individual student notification of the class beginning will not be given.  It is the responsibility of the student to know when his or her class begins!

    Benefits: 

    Attainment of safe driving principles for the young driver.  In the classroom, students are exposed to all driving environments.  Concepts are then practically applied in the behind-the-wheel phase of the course.

    Most insurance companies offer a reduction in insurance rates upon successful completion of the course.

    Students are eligible to apply for a Regular (Senior) Driver’s license one year after passing the test for their PA Junior Driver’s license, provided they have a violation-free and conviction-free driving record

    Students may elect to test with the program for a PA Driver’s license during their final hour of driving.

    Cost:

    A fee of $200.00 is charged for the driver education program.  This must be submitted with the application form.  Please make checks out to Indiana Area School District and return to the main office at Indiana Area Senior High School.  Students eligible for free/reduced lunches may also be eligible for a reduced rate of $50.00 for the program.   The free/reduced application is available here.
