Junior High School Vocal Ensemble performs at Curve game

The Indiana Junior High School Vocal Ensemble performed the national anthem and “God Bless America” at the Altoona Curve’s home playoff game last night. The Curve made the playoffs for the first time in seven years and yesterday was the first game in the playoff series, which they won 11-5.

The IJHS Vocal Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Jason Rummel. Thirty-one students participated, performing for about 5,000 people. Members of the vocal ensemble include: Penelope Allshouse, Joseph Atuhaire, Rositsa Bessetti, Brooklyn Braun, Zoe Cooper, Jason DeBat, Joshua Edmonds, Dekobe Flint, Ethan Foulk, Daelyn Freyvogel, Brooke Hill, Joseph Kushner, Ana Matos, Meela McKenzie, Isabelle Mettee, Madeline Mullen, Amelia Nelson, Addison Olear, Eliana Pangonis, Benjamin Reiter, Addison Revo, Nora Rives, Libby Sarneso, Beatrice Sharbaugh, Brady Smith, Jolina Speights, Bryn Stracka-Sateraile, Henrietta Stroup, Martha Stubbe, Canyon Tyger, and Anna Wolfe.

This performance is an annual opportunity for the ensemble; however, this year was special because the playoff game drew large crowds to the stadium. Dr. Rummel shared, “Having a public performance this early in the school year gets the VE [vocal ensemble] on the right track for having a successful school year. The kids had a blast singing for a huge crowd and eating plenty of stadium food.”

We are proud of our talented Junior High Vocal Ensemble and all their hard work!
