Third Grade String Program

All third grade students in the Indiana Area School District have the opportunity to learn to play violin in a scheduled class.

Each third grade class receives violin instruction for 30 minutes a week throughout the school year.  These classes reinforce fine motor skills, intonation, and rhythmic performance.  In addition, they offer a "hands-on" experience to students who might not otherwise have an opportunity to play an instrument.

The third grade violin classes will present a program at the end of the instructional period.  Further information with regard to the date of your child's program will be posted as it becomes available. (See below)

At Horace Mann and Eisenhower Schools, Ms. Laird is the instructor.  Ms. Laird has been playing the cello since she was in the fifth grade at East Pike School.  Her brother is a nationally renowned violin instructor, and her sister is the conductor of the Hollidaysburg Senior High Orchestra and is principal second violin for the Altoona Symphony.
