IASD has a Fiddle Club!
An exciting new program has begun in the Indiana Area School District for stringed instrument players and anyone interested in playing alternative styles of stringed music. The IASD Fiddle Club offers opportunities for students to play jazz, Irish, old-timey, mariachi, bluegrass, groove, Appalachian, and other world music styles. This program includes students in grades 3 – 12 as well as students and adults from the Indiana and IUP music community. IASD Fiddle Club meets on Mondays from 6 – 7:30 PM in the art gallery and music room at Horace Mann Elementary School, beginning on Monday, January 22. We will meet for eight Mondays, based on the schedule below. Each week a different guest artist from our community is featured and coaches us on how to play in the style of his/her expertise. We also form small ensembles within our group and rehearse in these different styles each week.
