IDEAL
Overview
IDEAL is Indiana Area School District's in-house cyber option for students, which started the 2011-2012 school year, but has now evolved to include more synchronous learning and face-to-face support. The Indiana Area School District’s goal is to blend traditional coursework with a continuum of options, including in-school online course instruction, and off-site cyber-based course instruction. IDEAL provides students with the flexibility and convenience of a quality virtual education and offers students " the best of both worlds." While attending IDEAL either full time or in a blended schedule, students are part of the IASD family and entitled to all of the supports and benefits to which all of our students have access including a wide variety of extracurricular activities.
*Students are able to access Indiana Area School District’s on-campus computer lab or meet with an instructor in person should the need arise.
*The PSSA, Keystone Exams, and other national, state and local tests that are required by any public cyber school can be taken within the District.
*Students who meet the District’s requirements may participate in College in High School or Dual Enrollment courses at IUP, Westmoreland Community College, and/or Mount Aloysius and earn college credit while still in high school.
*Students enrolled in IDEAL may study half-day at Indiana County Technology Center to pursue a course of study leading to certification in many vocational and technical careers.
The purpose of IDEAL is to offer students the education they need to prepare for life in the 21st century in a way that supports their individual needs. It provides students with the flexibility necessary to open up opportunities they may not previously have had through traditional public education or a cyber school experience. IDEAL+ is proud to meet the needs of students and their parents in the same quality academic environment with which stakeholders have become accustomed to in the Indiana Area School District.
