The Art Dept. offers several levels of classes:
*Two 9th grade courses will be offered in the fall of 2011: *These will be offered only to 9th graders and will consist of a 2 Dimensional section or a 3 Dimensional class.. These courses will be one semester each. *Our Art I program is one full year and consists of two parts:
*A two dimensional section -- (drawing, painting)
* A three dimensional section -- (clay, metal, fibers & printmaking)
The Art I course allows students to fulfill their credit requirements for graduation as well as allowing students to explore their creative needs.
*(students are required to successfully complete both parts of the Art I class with a minimum 2.5 (81% ) if they wish to elect an advanced level course).
We also offer two types of Advanced Art courses,
*Adv. Fine Art - consisting of Drawing and Painting as well as
*Adv. Three dimensional art - consisting of more in-depth explorations of Clay, Metal and Fiber areas.
*** [ these courses are rigorous and in-depth and may require considerable time beyond the normal class period. Most materials are supplied.]
*The Advanced Fine Art course has the prerequisite of a successful completion of our Art I full year class and is divided into separate levels by semester (i.e. Art II, Art III, Art IV & Art V). This allows students to attain a high level of art experiences. If the student elects Fine Art every semester and reaches the Art V level, he/she will explore computer graphic projects such as the ones seen on our web pages. (Students must maintain a 2.5 (81%) to continue in these classes).
* The Advanced 3-D has the same prerequisite as Fine Art and consists of continual exploration of three dimensional areas. These include Clay (hand building), Jewelry design (including Lost Wax casting). Fibers (e.g. Batik), Stained glass, and Sculptural projects. These classes are also elected by the semester. (The 2.5 (81%) grade applies here also ).
** We also incorporate a Portfolio Club. This club along with these rigorous classes allow the serious student to build a portfolio of work for acceptance into career chosen art schools. Thanks for stopping by and checking out our program.*Mr. Stiles and Mrs.Miller are the instructors...........
