Computerized Keyboarding

 

Goals:

 

1.                       Type by touch (Not looking at keys!)

2.                       Use correct fingers to make key reaches

3.                       Demonstrate proper technique-
Sit up straight
Keep fingers curved
Return fingers to home keys
Avoid letting wrists rest on desk
Keep eyes on source material

4.                       Follow directions

5.                       Make good use of class time

6.                       Increase speed and accuracy

7.                       Proofread accurately and correct errors (on graded work and formatted documents, NOT practice lines)

8.                       Format documents correctly—memos, letters, centered announcements, and reports, (including centered title page, page numbering, and references)



NOTES:

v    Students will need a folder to keep examples/returned papers.

v    Students are encouraged to type properly at home!!

v    Technique and production work:  75%  Timed writing speed:  25%

v    Makeup work due within one week.  Late work is eligible for half credit.

Timed writings:


 

1st  nine weeks (6 errors or less)

A = 30+ g.w.a.m.

B = 27-29

C = 23-26

      D = 20-22

 

 

2nd  nine weeks  (5 errors or less)

A = 35+ g.w.a.m.

B = 32-34

     C = 28-31

     D = 25-27  


   

Most formatted documents are graded on a 10-point scale.

One point is deducted for each error (format or keying).  Proofread carefully on graded work!!

 

Grading scale:
A=93%                 B=85%            C=77%             D=69%
