ADVANCED COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

Course Syllabus

Welcome to ADVANCED COMPUTER APPLICATIONS!  This course is designed to extend your basic knowledge of the following Microsoft Office programs:

This course builds upon the fundamental concepts covered in Computer Applications and encourages students to work independently following class demonstrations and discussions.  Students also apply problem-solving skills and creativity while completing the assignments.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

     1.   Students should be in the door and ready to begin class when the bell rings.   After-school detention is assigned after two “lates” to class.

    2.   Every document that is sent to a printer should have the student’s name and page/problem # TYPED somewhere on that document.

    3.   All work must be saved to your network folder!

    4.   All assignments are to be turned in as they are completed.  Any assignment that is more than one page in length should be stapled together.

    5.   Any suspicion of copying will result in a zero for that particular assignment belonging to each student involved.

    6.   **I realize that everyone completes work at a different pace.  Most students have adequate class time to complete assignments.  However, sometimes it may be necessary for a student to work during a study hall or after school to complete work.  I will announce when the “final” due date is for assignments.   NO late assignments will be accepted after announced “final” due date.

    7.   It is the student’s responsibility to make up computer assignments, tests, and/or homework missed due to absence from school.  The computer lab is open all eight periods of the day as well as most days after school until 3:30 p.m.  Makeup work should be completed within one week.

    8.    Push in chairs when you leave the room.  Do not leave stray items at your workstation.

    9.    Use care when handling the books.

 10.   Restart the computer at the end of the class.

  11.   Problems are worth 5 to 30 points depending on complexity.

 12.   Points are deducted for each direction/step not completed correctly.  (varies)

 13.   **One point is deducted for each typographical error.  Proofread carefully!  Attention to detail is important.

 14.

A = 93-100%

B = 85-92%

C = 77-84%

D = 69-76%

In the event of a fire drill, exit the room following the teacher’s directions.  Stay together with your class and teacher.  Exit the room quietly and quickly!

 15.   See me for help as needed.  Have a successful semester!
