COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

 

Course Syllabus

 

            Welcome to COMPUTER APPLICATIONS!  This course is designed to cover fundamentals and concepts of the following Microsoft Office programs: WORD, EXCEL (spreadsheet), ACCESS (database), and POWERPOINT (presentation).

 

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

 

   1.   Students should be in the door and ready to begin class when the tardy bell rings.  After one tardy the student will be given a warning and any tardiness that follows will result in assignment of after-school detention.

 

   2.   It is the student’s responsibility to make up computer assignments, tests, and/or homework missed due to absence from school.  The computer lab is open all eight periods of the day as well as most days after school until 3:30 p.m.  Make up work should be done within one week.  Late work is eligible for ½ credit.

 

   3.   Students are expected to bring pens/pencils, paper, and a folder to class at all times.

 

   4.   Every document that is sent to a printer should have the student’s name TYPED somewhere on that document.

   5.   All work must be saved to your network folder!

 

   6.   All assignments are to be turned in as they are completed.  Any assignment that is more than one page in length should be stapled together. 

 

   7.   ANY SUSPICION OF COPYING DOCUMENTS/ASSIGNMENTS DONE ON THE COMPUTER (OR WRITTEN) WILL RESULT IN A ZERO FOR THAT PARTICULAR ASSIGNMENT BELONGING TO EACH STUDENT INVOLVED.

   8.   In the event of a fire drill, exit the room following the teacher’s directions.  Stay together with your class and teacher.  Exit the room quietly and quickly!

   9.   Push in chairs when you leave the room.  Do not leave stray items at your workstation.  Use care when handling the books.

10.   Restart the computer at the end of the class.  Students in 8th period should SHUT DOWN the computers.
