GRADING

REMEMBER: YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU!

PARTICIPATION- Your class attendance is reflected in this grade. If you are here, you will get credit for being here AND participating. If you are not here, you are not awarded credit. You will be excused from the activity. However, if you choose to attend a music lesson or other type of activity vs being here in class, it will be a ZERO.

  Projects- Completion of individual and group projects are part of the course. You will have the opportunity to work on your own and with others in the classroom. Be open minded and willing to work with others. 

Notebook- A notebook is strongly recommended for this course as notes and handouts are given daily. I do not check notebooks unless I feel it is necessary. 

Homework- you can expect to have homework. You can expect me to check it as well. It must be complete to receive credit. More than half done= half credit /  Not done = NO credit.  

Makeup work- IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE ME REGARDING MAKEUP WORK. If you are absent when I give a test or collect an assignment, it will remain a zero until it is submitted. If it was an assignment and you were here on the day it was assigned, you are expected to hand it in when you return to class. If it was a quiz, you are responsible for seeing me to set up a time to make it up. If you go on a field trip or attend a music lesson, this DOES NOT EXCUSE YOU from making up work or turning things in on time.

  KEEP TRACK OF YOUR GRADES! I post everything on a regular basis.  Unexcused absences will result in not being able to makeup the work. It is not my fault if you fail to keep track of your academic progress…the purpose of posting grades on the internet is to communicate with you about your grades.

NO NAME! = no name on your paper will result in a loss of points

NOT LEGIBLE = If I cannot read your handwriting I will simply hand it back and ask you to do it again. The assignment will then be considered late. If you would prefer to type assignments, that is acceptable.  

LATE GRADE- I expect your work to be turned in on time. Coming to school late. leaving school early, field trips, band lessons are not an excuse. Please plan accordingly. I will take 25% off all work that is handed in late. 

Suspension or In School Detention - It is your responsibility to come and see me for assignments. Failure to do this will result in a zero for the work. 

Extension- If you need more time on an assignment, please feel free to come and talk to me about it. I will make my decisions accordingly. Work, field trips, music lessons, extra curricular activities, and sports are not considered valid.

Academic Honesty- I expect it at all times. If you are caught cheating, it will result in a zero and a phone call home. Please do not put me in this position. 

Academic dis-honesty includes- talking during a test , sharing homework (unless asked to), copying some else's work, doing the work for someone else, plagiarism (includes copying and pasting from the internet)             

 GRADING SCALE

93-100 = A

85-92 = B

77-84 = C

69-76 = D

0-68 = F
