Medication Policy District preference is that parents would deliver any medication to the nurse rather than having the students carry the medication with them. If this is not possible, the student should report to the nurse's office and leave the medication there. All medications must be accompanied by completed parent and physician medication administration forms which are available from the nurse or from the district website. This change in policy regarding signed forms, was approved by the school board and pertains to all prescription and over the counter medications given at any time. Exception: The only exception to this policy is for the student who needs an asthma inhaler. It is permissible for a student to carry an inhaler with written permission from the parent and physician, after demonstrating proper procedure for use of the inhaler to the nurse.
Leaving School For Illness/Injury If students are ill or injured, they must proceed to the nurse who will, after assessment determine the appropriate care of the student. Students are not permitted to call from the payphone or cell phone to be picked up for illness or injury. If a student is sent home by the nurse, the parent/guardian will need to go to the Attendance Office and sign said student out.
