Mr. Wade McElheny

Principal

Mr. Wade McElheny was named principal of the Indiana Area Senior High School in 2011.  Prior to that, he served as the school's assistant principal for eight years.  Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Mr. McElheny began teaching in the 1994-1995 school year.  He served as a social studies teacher (primarily Economics, U.S. History, and Law) for seven years, after which he served as Dean of Students at IHS for two years.  Additionally, he has coached track and field and junior high football.  Mr. McElheny earned an A.A. in Humanities at Community College of Allegheny County, a B.A. in History with a  minor in Pre-Law at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a M.S. in Education at Duquesne University, and Principal Certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He enjoys spending time with family, working on his house, riding his motorcycle and working with young people.

 

Mr. Robert Rizzo

Assistant Principal

 

Mr. Rizzo was named the assistant principal of the Indiana Area Senior High School in 2011.  Prior to that, he served as the band director for seven years at the high school and for two years at the junior high.  He has directed marching bands, jazz ensembles, symphony bands, wind ensembles, pep bands, and many small musical ensembles in performances throughout the community during his tenure as a music teacher.  Before coming to IASD, Mr. Rizzo taught in the Penn Hills School District and the East Allegheny School District for four and five years respectively.  Mr. Rizzo earned a B.S. in Music Education from Penn State University, a M.A. in Adult and Community Education and earned his principal certification in August of 2009 from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, riding ATVs, playing racquetball, and being outdoors.
