Indiana Area Senior High School
Driver Education Classes

For Whom?

The course is open to Indiana Area Senior High School students who are 16 years of age or older and who possess a valid PA learner’s Permit or a PA Junior Driver’s License by the time driving instruction begins for the class.  Be sure to schedule and complete this class prior to graduation.

When?

The Driver Education schedule for the 2010-2011 school year can be found by clicking here.  Once maximum enrollment is reached, students will have to wait to take the next available course.  Remember, attendance is mandatory, so please plan accordingly to your own schedule.  During the school year, classes meet from 3:00-5:00 (MWF) in the LGI at the high school.  Summer session classes meet from 9:00-11:00 (MTWRF).  Driving is scheduled in order of registration for the class.  Please remember the class and date you have enrolled in.  Students are not notified in advance that the class is beginning - it is their responsibility to listen to announcements as to the start date of the class.

Forms to register for the course are available in the Athletic Office or by clicking here.  Please indicate the session that your child will be attending.  These should be completed as soon as possible and delivered to or mailed to:

Benefits:

Attainment of safe driving principles for the young driver.  In the classroom, students are exposed to all driving environments.  Concepts are then practically applied in the behind-the-wheel phase of the course.

Most insurance companies offer a reduction in insurance rates upon successful completion of the course.

Students are eligible to apply for a Regular (Senior) Driver’s license one year after passing the test for their PA Junior Driver’s license, provided they have a violation-free and conviction-free driving record

Students may elect to test with the program for a PA Driver’s license during their final hour of driving.

Cost:

A $40.00 laboratory fee is charged for the behind-the-wheel instruction.   PLEASE NOTE:  All checks are held until the student attends the first week of class.
