Denise Dragich was named principal of Horace Mann Elementary School in 2008.   Prior to that, she served as the principal at Eisenhower Elementary School. 

She earned a B.S. Ed. In Home Economics and a M. Ed. in Early Childhood Education, both from IUP. She earned her Principal Certification at Penn State University.  

Ms. Dragich has been an elementary teacher in the Indiana Area School District since 1989, most recently having served as a first grade teacher at Horace Mann. Prior to teaching in the district, Ms. Dragich was a teacher and program coordinator for Indiana County Child Care, Inc. and a teacher for the Indiana County Head Start program. She presently serves on the Indiana Free Library Board of Trustees, a position she has held since 2000.

Her hobbies and interests include reading, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. Her family includes two sons, Jacob and Nathan Shaffer. Both graduated from Indiana High School and currently live in Pittsburgh.

Ms. Dragich is excited about returning to Horace Mann and looks forward to providing a strong learning community in which students and staff alike can grow and learn together. She is especially excited about fostering character education through the Heartwood Attributes program.
